  Thallus white to greyish, lacking pseudocyphellae, not corticate. Ascomata solitary, subglobose, erumpent from the substratum, the sides often partly covered by the thallus, c. 0.3–0.5 mm diam. Ascomatal wall without crystals, to 100 μm thick; ostiole usually apical, black. Hamathecium not inspersed with oil droplets, IKI+ orange. Ascospores 8 per ascus, irregularly uniseriate, muriform, with c. 4 rows of 2–4 locules, ellipsoidal, with rounded ends, grey, 12–22 × 7–13 μm; lumina usually rounded, occasionally angular.
CHEMISTRY: Thallus usually UV+ yellow; lichexanthone detected with TLC.
     
  Occurs in tropical N.T. and Qld; also on Christmas Island. Pantropical, mostly in open, coastal areas.
